Bidar, Bijapur, Bagalkot

Rani Akkadevi was a Chalukyan princess who lived from 1010 CE to 1064 CE. She governed Kishukadu, a vast region region spanning three present day districts.

Known by the name Gunadabedangi “beauty of virtues”, she was a great general and led an army. An inscription dated 1022 states her bravery and courage in war.

During her reign she expanded her province. She was generous and supported education and religious institutions.
